Why Become a Member?
At its core, the Ladies’ Ski Club (LSC) has one principal aim, to promote female participation in snow sports. And there are two main ways in which it does this.
Firstly, by organising a range of activities both on and off snow, from amateur race championships with clubs across Europe to social events with like-minded people. Members have one thing in common besides a love of skiing, and that is their ‘up for it’ gutsy attitude. You don’t have to be a great skier, but if you have that way of looking at life then you’ll find a kinship here! And participating in these activities is one of the joys of being part of the LSC.
The second, and particularly important part of being a member is to know that just by paying your membership subscription of £20 per year, you are helping to fund promising females on their road to becoming elite British athletes, representing our country at the highest level of competitive snow sports.
Alongside all this, we aim to assist with networking, work experience in snow sports and training for female race officials.
Grants
The LSC aims to support British athletes by offering annual grants to females who show promise in competitive snow sports. While we support ski racers mainly, we welcome applications from Freestyle, Telemark, Nordic, Snowboarding and Skier/Boarder Cross athletes and para-athletes. This can be support for purchasing your licence, coaching fees, equipment purchase, travel, camp fees or race entries. Grants range from £150 to £2,000 dependant on the application.

The online application process runs from 1st September to 1st November with applicants being advised of the outcome in December.
In order to be eligible for any grants you must first become a member of the Ladies’ Ski Club.

Amateur Racing & Training
LSC competes in the Amateur Inter-Club Championships (AICC), an annual ski racing event with some of the oldest ski clubs from across Europe competing. The races are held in March and are hosted by a different club in a different location each year. This is an opportunity for racers who have now retired to shine, or for anyone who would like to try out racing, even if they have never competed before.
Races are divided by gender and age group and attract up to 200 competitors, all enjoying the gentle rivalry and sheer delight of racing down a race piste! Not to mention the apres-ski events, at which new friends get together for two fabulous dinners organised exclusively for the competitors and non-competing supporters.
We warmly welcome new team members so if you’d like to get involved in the AICC please get in touch with our LSC Team Captain, Joanna Milner Percy at secretary@ladiesskiclub.org The event usually involves 2 days of racing; a GS and Super G, followed by a fun parallel slalom.
Although the event is run over just 3 days, most competitors go out for the week to warm up, explore a new skiing area and enjoy each other’s company. Race entry costs around €65 per person and the dinners are usually around €100 per persons including wine. There are medals to be won but the best prize is the knowledge that you may have helped your team beat the Italians!!

But don’t worry we don’t just throw you in at the deep end. The LSC organises a training camp, usually early in the season, to which all are welcome, to develop their skiing and racing techniques. Just for Ladies, it gives us the opportunity to hone our race skills and socialise as a team. Our coaches have been some of the best of British instructors including just lately the four-time Olympian Chemmy Alcott (also a long time member of the LSC!)
Competition Officials Training
The LSC offers training courses for all levels of experience. Whether you are interested in becoming involved with officiating at entry level races, learning how to freestyle judge, developing your skills as Referee or Chief of Race, or you would like to train to become a Technical Delegate (TD), the LSC offers courses, financial contributions to training, work experience and opportunities to get involved in local club races across the UK.

Fundraising & Social Activities
Throughout the year the LSC runs fundraisers to support British Snowsports Athletes. These take the form of raffles, sales and auctions. We welcome both new donors and regular giving.
In addition, the club organises a range of activities for members, both on and off snow. These include the opportunity to socialise with like-minded people through events such as the AGM and annual dinner, walks and picnics, online fitness classes, sailing regattas and annual ski holidays.
