British Schoolgirls' Indoor Races 2022

LSC held the British Schoolgirls’ Indoor Races at the Milton Keynes Snozone on Sunday 11 September. There was some great racing with 15 schools taking part. New Hall school won the slalom and South Hampstead High School won the parallel slalom; the overall individual winner was Holly Tutt from Bedford Girls’ School. Full results can be found here. Many thanks to the team at the Snozone and Ski MK Race Team who ensured we had a fantastic event.

British Alpine athletes need financial support

On 4 August 2022 GB Snowsport announced that the British Alpine athletes will have their World Class Programme funding withdrawn by UK Sport. This is a huge blow to the athletes, coaches and technical staff who have shown enormous dedication in their efforts to grow Britain’s standing in Alpine Skiing, particularly after the squad delivered their best ever results last season. GB Snowsport’s announcement can be seen here.

A number of the British World Cup Squad members, including Charlie Guest one of our LSC athletes, have launched a Crowdfunder together with a campaign video; please follow this link if you are able to help in any way.

LSC Senior Ladies win gold at the AICC

Over 20 LSC members travelled to Wengen last week for the annual AICC championships hosted by the DHO. The races were held on the iconic Lauberhorn course at the foot of the North Face of the Eiger and the Jungfrau. LSC fielded four teams and our senior ladies A team won their category, a first for the “Ladies in Pink”! With no races in 2021 it was great to be back at the AICC and a fantastic time was had by all, both on and off the slopes!

Congratulations to Marguerite Nice, Sheridan Killwick, Gayle Parsons and Clare Byam-Cooke for their gold medal winning performance!

Two first places for Jaz Taylor in Les Houches and Murren

Jaz Taylor, one of the LSC telemark athletes, has had an amazing couple of weeks coming first in the Sprint World Cup race in Les Houches and in the Parallel Sprint in Murren.

She came second in her other World Cup race in Les Houches and in the Classic and Sprint races in Murren, giving her five podium finishes in five races!

Well done Jaz from all of us at the LSC!
